The sight was mounted on the L1A1 Self-Loading Rifle or GPMG, or in this case the M-16 rifle with the use of the correct mounting bracket. The SUIT sight was developed in the United Kingdom by Royal Armaments Research Development Establishment (RARDE) and is manufactured by Avimo Ltd., now known as Thales UK. It was first produced in 1976 by Avimo Ltd. in London and is regarded as an early optical combat sight.
Questions I know I will get:
Does it still illuminate? No, it does not. It was made in 1977. The half life of tritium is about 10-12 years. It has been 38 years.
Does it work? Yes, it works. It magnifies and has the cool reticle, it just does not light up.
