Now here is something you do not see everyday.
I am sure many of you have heard about the Chinese series of B3 air rifles, commonly used by the Chinese military to train soldiers on the SKS rifle. But have you heard of the B4?
The B4 had a very short history. It was introduced as the next generation in Chinese training aids, but this time around, the goal was to specifically mimic the AK-47's sight picture.
Despite the sight picture change, the B4 retained its SKS-like stock, which meant the B4 still handled like an SKS. Chinese companies quickly introduced models like the BAM B3, which closely copied the AK-47's wood furniture design, complete with a pistol grip and folding stock.
This practically ended the B4's involvement in military training, and resulted in a massive sale off on the commercial market in the 1970s and 1980s. This particular B4 was sold by Hercules.
You will notice that this example comes equipped with a scope mount bracketed around the receiver. This scope mount is original to the rifle. It was added by the Chinese in a last minute effort to appeal to American consumers, who at the time, were not particularly excited about the AK-47 or its sight picture.
You have to remember, these came into the United States in the 1970s and 1980s, before any of this stuff was cool.
Just like my other air rifle listings, this air rifle is no longer in production. It is a ghost from a time gone by. These can only be had on the second hand collector's market and their prices are only going up everday.
I promise you, these used to be 50 bucks, just like our friend the Mosin Nagant.
This rifle functions, groups extremely well, and all the seals are good. It comes with a premium leather sling, marked with Chinese writing and characters.
There are no cracks in the stock but the shellac finish is chipping off in a few spots. I thought about refinishing it, but it can only be original once, so I left it alone. Once it is yours, you may do with it whatever you please.
