Up for trade or sell is a Smith and Wesson Model 1917 revolver in .45 ACP. This gun has three different serial numbers. Barrel is from 1919, cylinder and frame from 1918. It may be a Frankenstein gun or it's possible it left the factory like this in their hurry to finish the contract but I've been unable to verify with Smith to be sure. At some point someone nickel plated it, finish is not the best but has character. Note the grip frame has some good pitting on it from when someone let it sit for years with slab grips it looks like, this can't be seen until you remove the grips. The lanyard hole is plugged and there are no markings on the bottom of grip frame. The bore is decent with no pitting that I can see, rifling is decent. It does have the S34 Eagle Head US Army inspector mark under the barrel. Comes with Pachmayr grips as shown.
Please see pics for condition as well as the short video I posted of it on YouTube.
Definitely a shooter grade and its shoots great. Note since it is .45 ACP you do need moon clips (I'll throw in a few) to eject the rounds. Although you can fire the rounds without moon clips if you like, you just have to pick them out with your fingernail or use a stick of some sort to eject them.
