Colt 1911 Commercial Model - 1917 Manufacture Date
I’m selling a Colt 1911 commercial model, manufactured in 1917 according to Colt’s records. This firearm was passed down to me by my father, who claimed it was carried by my Great Uncle during his time in the Cavalry, possibly during the search for Pancho Villa. I have my doubts about this particular story since this is a commercial model, not a military issue, but the date of manufacture does line up with the period.
The gun is mechanically sound and has been taken to the range once, where it functioned properly without any issues. However, the original finish is mostly worn off due to age and wear. It comes with an original (I think) lanyard loop magazine. It also comes with the holster.
I’m not a firearms expert but will do my best to answer any questions. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in a piece of history, whether as a collector or for restoration.
Asking price: $2500
