This Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle model 6823 in 7.62x51mm was purchased new by me in 2014. After taking a deer a year with it for the next 4 years, I pretty much retired it and started using a 30-30 do to my feeder and stand only being 75 yrds apart. I guess I just felt like this 308 wasn’t as sporting to the deer and it seemed a little over powered. My ammo count is exactly 46 rounds down the barrel from sighting in the iron sights, the scope, and then harvesting all 4 deer. The rifle is currently in the scout configuration with the Hi-Lux 2-7x32mm long eye relief BDC scout scope that was specially make for this rifle. The All-Steel scope mounts I installed are Russian and are extremely low profile. The scope is pretty much mounted as low as humanly possible and from what I remember, they ae very tight on the rail. Regarding the bullet drop compensation reticle, I have been using Hornady American Whitetail 150gr. Interlock ammo and it has been a good match for the BDC up to 300 yrds. I have not tested the BDC past 300 yrds, however, I believe the scope was designed with a 150gr or 168gr bullet in mind so I would expect good things from beyond that point. Basically, the crosshair is 0-200 yrds with each additional line adding 100 yrds all the way out to 600 yrds with this scope. I will be including 34 rounds of ammo with this rifle with the option of buying extra at a discount rate of $20 per box if you so choose. Two extras were done to this rifle. First, glass packing the mounting lugs between the receiver and stock. Tolerances on the back lug were too tight for the glass pack to do anything but it helped a little in the front which I have a good picture of. The second thing was getting rig of that shinny stainless steel bolt handle which I absolutely hated. Shinny things while hunting.., no good! I had the bolt handle duracoated in matte black which was done by Gulf Coast firearms in Spring. One other addition to mention is the Andy’s leather Ching Sling on the rifle which was specifically designed for the scout rifle in mind. The sling is mounted using three Talon sling swivels. Can’t say enough good things about this gorgeous looking rifle. I only ever shot it suppressed so I never really used the stock flash hider it came with. You can be sure though that I have installed it for you with the correct rotation in mind. I’m just picky that way, I guess. Box and everything that was in it is included.
