Verl L Sigman, is a retired custom gun smith out of Cabool MO, who specialized in building single shot and muzzle loaders for Schuetzen competitions, practiced for centuries in Europe and continued in the US, but unfortunately not so much these days.
If one wishes to see some of his work, just go to sandiegoschutzenguilde dot org for their 2013 competition and many photos abound of his work.
One can even find a few of his weapons on Rock Island Auctions as we speak.
Luckily he used his skills on other firearms in the day, and this one, a P17 Eddystone converted to 338-06 is a real beauty. Then the stock, hand engraved by B. A Dawson, is gorgeous and looks like a rifle built back in the 1950's to 1960's.
Rifle comes with a die set, Little Crow case trimmer, and 100 once fired brass.
Production ammunition is called 338 A-Square (A2 sometimes) and is a very popular round for those pursuing ALL large or dangerous N American game, with many big bear hunters liking this round for its reduced recoil but massive energy delivered just short of the 338 Winchester magnum.
My loss, your gain.
