Steyer-Hahn. Built in Austria. It was their military pistol in World War I. They shot 9x23 Steyer rounds.
The pistol was built in 1919, so it barely missed World War I. It was stored in the armory.
When Germany invaded and annexed Austria in 1938, they went through the armory and modified them to shoot 9x19 Luger. The 9mm Luger round was slightly ‘fatter’ and shorter. So they enlarged the bore, and put a block inside the magazine well.
The 08 designation indicates that the gun was modified.
Since there is no ejectable magazine, the bullets must be loaded from the top. They used “stripper clips” to speed load.
